Complete Your 80 Hour Practicum For Accreditation As Approved By The Ontario Association For Family Mediation

WHAT WE OFFER YOU…

If you’re an Ontario-based trained family mediator on the road to accreditation, the Ontario Association of Family Mediation (OAFM) requires you to complete 100 hours of supervised case experience and submit 5 mediation reports to demonstrate your understanding of the mediation process and the law.  Successful applications are then granted status as an Accredited Family Mediator (AccFM).

Since 2021, OAFM allows 80 of 100 practicum hours and 3 of 5 case reports to be completed in online supervision with simulated cases. The remaining 20 hours and 2 reports must then be completed with real clients, working with an accredited supervisor of your choice.

We deliver up to four online 80-hour Practicum courses per year featuring small group learning.  FMPO’s Roster of experienced and Accredited Family Mediators will mentor you through real-life diverse case scenarios where you will observe, practice and learn new skill, and receive one-to-one feedback.

After the 80 hours, Roster members are then open to working with students individually on the 20 hours, depending on availability.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

1. The prerequisite is that you complete all the required family mediation courses before applying for the practicum
